Weston turns 4 years old!!!
Weston is now the BIG 4-years old. He has been so excited for his birthday to come, and I'm not even sure he understood what it meant. All he seemed to care about was that he would get a Spiderman birthday cake and have people sing Happy Birthday to him. Which, for not having T.V., spiderman movies, or Spiderman books or toys... he sure loves Spiderman even though we as parents have told him we think spiderman is creepy... which he tells everyone!
But for his birthday I thought I'd indulge. We got the spiderman table cloth, plates, napkins and cups. He saw those saturday night and just kept saying "oh thank you mom" "Mom, thank you so much" "Oh wow mom, thanks mom" And that was just over the decorations! I don't think he had any concept or thought that he would get actuall presents for his birthday!
Which, on his birthday he woke up to a bouquet of balloons in his room with, off course, a spiderman happy birthday balloon. He was totally beside himself. He thought it was sooooo cool!
His birthday was on Sunday, so after we got home from church and ate lunch, we opened presents. We got Grandma Sandy on Ichat - since she had sent some and we thought she would like to watch.... Which as it turns out - the bug gun/vacuum is a real hit - no serious bugs caught yet though! Weston loved it.. And then the present mom picked out - boggle jr. was bipased for the bigger present. which won the day - ya for Dad who picked that out! Hot Wheels race track... Weston tore open a corner and started sqweeling and yelled - it's says Hot Wheels on it! The kid can't read - but he knows his logos!! After that he just kept thanking Grandma for the cool race track and hot wheels... We had to explain later that it was really from mom and dad, that Grandma Sandy and Grandpa Ed sent the Bug gun... all night we had to keep explaining that. But I guess either way it was good - he loved them all. And the $$ he got from Grandpa Steve and Grandma Liz - that gets to go in his bank. But when he first opened the card, he just looked at the money and had no idea what it was... I had to laugh!
We had some friends over for cake and Ice cream, so they could sing to Weston and fulfill that wish! It was great. We had a few issues with getting his cake to look like spiderman - but in the end - it's red with big white eyes and no mouth - just like Weston said!
I was just so appreciative that Weston is so.... genuinely innocent with some things. He had no requests of presents or big items or anything other than cake and for us to sing to him. And everything he got he was so amazed that it was for him. He loved getting the calls and special hello's for his birthday, and I guess through it all and his true humility - I had so much fun doting on him! John commented though "It's a good thing we had a real Spiderman birthday - because after today, there is no more spiderman!!" But he was given some spiderman crackers and spiderman mac-n-cheese, so when they are gone, we'll be finished with spiderman!
All in all though, we had a great time. And he is 4 and loves it. Today we brough Spiderman cupcakes to school and they had a little celebration for him. And now that he is finished with his parties - we get to start looking forward to Tyler's and Daddy's birthday in a few weeks!
