Does this make me look Fat?
I need to get a profile shot - but this should do for now. I am 6 1/2 months pregnant and still get some people asking if I'm pregnant and shocked that I am comments. But then I get a bigger share of "is it a girl this time" or "are you lucky enough to get a girl this time" or "Do you know yet what it is... a girl... or aren't you so lucky" comments.
I've decided that even though I shouldn't be I am starting to get a little defensive with all the comments. I used to just smile and say yes it's a girl - but that seems a little scary, I know my boys, and girls scream! With that they just laugh and would make some comment about how great girls are.
When actually - all the little girls I know do scream for no explainable reason and it scares me to death. My boys scream - but usually because their brother is attacking them. They beat it out of each other and it's done - then they play great together until the next one. Girls - at least the ones here that I've seen - seem to make it their job to be in someone's face and start a tuffle and then start screaming about it. Inevitably the boy invovled get's in trouble. I just don't understand this!
Today I was given the ... "are you getting a girl this time" with a wink and a smile.. I said yes - but I would have been just as happy with a boy - and she gave me the funniest look and said "yes, but isn't it nice to have one of each". I just don't understand this girls are better than boys thing I keep getting.
All I can say, is I love my boys and I am excited for a little girl so I am not totally left out of all the boy parties and having a baby of a different gender gives me a chance to update at least one wardrobe in the family! - but if she screams for no reason - I'm going to start carrying duct-tape around with me and taping her mouth shut! Maybe that sounds abusive - but we're talking sanity and the need to keep it in tact!
Although, we were getting a ride with someone the other day, and their little girl (2 1/2-ish) starts screaming in the car, totally unprovoked by Tyler who just looked and laughed at her while she screamed. But she was loud and consistent for a very long time. Finally Weston also in the seat with her and Tyler - says as loudly as he can without yelling - "Katie, that's enough... Katie that is too loud - that is enough screaming". I had to laugh - internally off-course! Hopefully Weston and Tyler can keep their baby sister in check!
