First Soccer Game

We had our first soccer game today, which was very fun. Weather was great the parental support for our team was great, it was just a lot of fun. I can't say enough how much I love little league soccer.. watching little kids swarm around the ball and just have fun to be doing something (weather it's going to win them the game or not) is just so humbling to watch.

Oh if you didn't already know, John is the coach and having a lot of fun! The kids are too - he just likes to let them play and have fun without being to serious and I think they like that!

This game in particular was great fun. Our opposing team was mostly 3 and young 4 year old's. Our team had a few older (5 and 6 year olds) kids on it. So most of the time we watched as the ball was just run the length of the field and kicked out of bounds. Or as one kid would be kicking the ball while the others on the field were dancing, or talking, or just staring off somewhere else!































Weston scored the first 3 or 4 goals of the game, within about 5 minutes. And was very happy with himself. He is old enough now to understand the concept of kicking the ball into our goal, and with last year as practice is doing very well.


























































Tyler, when he plays is remarkably good and coordinated. But the question is if he wants to play. He gets a little overwhelmed by caos.. and to say it nicely, little league soccer is caotic at best! And after our busy last week and little sleep weekend, he was more tired and seemed to get a little sad when the other kids starting kicking the ball (taking his turn.. again I couldn't help but laugh - trying so hard to be comforting, but it was just funny!) So he had a rougher game - but played great when he did play.

Elayna loves soccer and wanted to be in the middle of it all. After she stoll someone's gold fish crakcers.. she was happy to just sit and watch - and cheer when appropriate. But otherwise she wanted to be out kicking the ball or running on the field with the other kids.

It was a great day! Especially since we all came home and after cleaning up our camping stuff took nice long naps!
