Happy Easter 2008

We had a great Easter weekend and hope that everyone else did as well. We missed the wonderful Easter hunt and gathering that Jan always has. Maybe one year we'll make it back.

Saturday we went over to friends to help them with house demo. (Actually just John helped with that) and we ended up staying for the day, having lunch dying eggs and having dinner. It was a great day, probably mostly because I was able to head out to go grocery shopping with just Elayna. Shopping with less than the normal amount of kids - at any time - is the best! And I was able to forget about the laundry and chores I had at home to do. (Sorry John)

Sunday was not the sunny, warm and picturesque Easter we had hoped for, but we did get a quick picture of the kids before church in their springy looking outfits. Absolutely not the great and frame-able picture I was hoping for - but hey, no one was crying and they all still had their clothes on free of food and dirt! This could actually be a tribute to hand-me-downs as everything they are wearing except the pants were given to us. But since Weston never wore the sweaters before - this was the second time two weeks in a row now, it is as close to Easter outfits as we may ever get! And after a zipper replacement and trip to the dry cleaners Laynie looked like she was about ready to float off somewhere. She was so stink'n cute! It was so puffy we had a hard time keeping her dress down at church! I'm starting to have a hard time differentiating between just so funny you want to laugh, and actually being cute (pleasing to look at!) Either way though - you just want to pinch her chubby little cheeks and giggle right along with her. If we can get a nice sunny day with a happy girl we may try a little photoshoot!

After church we walked out into a nasty rainstorm and rushed home to warm up and eat our little Easter feast. Since the Squires (who we spent the day with saturday) were getting new floors and toilets they had to be out of their house for a few days so we invited them to stay with us. So they came over for Easter dinner (which was rather good). We had two desserts, unintentially (not counting easter candy) a Sweet potato souffle which was an absolute favorite and then a chocolate souffle which was okay in comparison. They kids were able to hunt for treats and each made quite the haul! All in all it was a very nice weekend, despite the weather. I think this makes two years running that we had to keep easter inside due to weather. Oh well. there's always next year!??

But in reflection of what Easter is really symbolizing. It was a wonderful weekend spent with family and friends whom we love and care for. And isn't that was Easter is all about, celebrating our Savior Jesus Christ who died for us and then resurected. Allowing all of us, through the attonement, the opportunity to live with Him and our Father in Heaven once again for eternity with with our families who we love so much. I will always be grateful for that sacrifice for me. And grateful that I will always be able to have my children and family forever.

Glad you had a fun Easter! I wish sometimes I was a kid again! What fun without all the work!

Take Care, Kira
