Happy 4th of July

Well, This again seems to be a fairly non-planned, non-eventful holiday in our house. But we had a great day. Mostly it was just nice to be home, with Daddy and be able to go and do as a family. The weather was wonderful, and luckily I was feeling fairly good so all in all - it was a wonderfuly day!
We slept in, and while I did a rush job on some pillow cases for the boys, John and the boys watched part of a movie and ate breakfast and got ready for the day. Then we gave Weston and Tyler their new 4th of July pillow cases, which were animals for Tyler and Spider Man for Weston. I was short a little fabric so the prints run the wrong way. I was hoping they wouldn't notice or care, but Weston seemed a little concerned for Tyler - as his was more obvious! He continues to be 'very' detail oriented about most everything!

After that, we headed out for a little hike. John thinks it was about 2 miles at most so nothing huge, but we did go down a fairly steep hill to the marina and then have to go back up. I was just praying I would make it, and I did. I'm not sure it was the smartest move on my part - but considering the mental break and vacation that it was for me - it was totally worth it!

When we made it to the marina, the tide was really low and the boys and John headed down to go exploring and ended up crab hunting. I headed down eventually to take some pictures, and as you can see it was a beautiful day. Every rock (barnicle covered) that the boys would pick up they would find little crabs that would scury to hid under another rock or shell.. They loved it, along with throwing shells and rocks into the water the further we got out and then just running around.

We got a family shot - to proove that I was there too. But as you can see we all looked a little haggard and confused. Mostly it had to do with the photographer - who was some random lady that kept yelling at her granddaughter while taking the picture so we didn't know when to smile or be ready or anything.... it was just off??????

We made it back up the hill and made it home in time for lunch and naps and then headed to a BBQ that night with friends from John's office. It was just so nice to be outside and let the kids play. I think there was a group of 20 that just kept running around from one activity to the next. It was great. Tyler found a bike and to everyone's amusment and complete surprise was riding it around like it was his own. It did have training wheels, and he is a little short to really ride, but he would just go around and around and around, and stop every so often to make sure we were watching and still impressed. It was cute.

We got home after 10:00, a good 4 hours of playing in and bed time on the way. We all got in pajamas and watched some fire works from our front window for a while and headed to bed. Our smoke detector went off in the middle of the night, and John thinks it was because our upstairs window was open and firework smoke must have drifted in. Nothing huge, since we were so tired we just went right back to sleep!
