Happy Halloween

Halloween seemed somewhat anti-climatic this year. But the kids did get to dress up and they did make a haul on candy so in all ways important - Halloween was a great success!

Weston wanted to be a "Hot Wheel" driver, and still thinks he is the coolest thing ever because he has an official hot wheel driver suit with a mask! Tyler wanted to be an astronaut, among other things, but astronaut he was. Laynie didn't really have a choice but oh how cute she was. (Thank you Shelli for the costume). Elayna got several oh's and ah's and 'cutest baby awards' from everyone we saw. And at each door the person would have to call everyone from inside to come out and look at the cutest little duck ever!!!!

We were able to go over to our friends house for our own little Halloween party. The kids went trick-or-treating and then we came back to sloppy joe's and sweet potato fries!

Elayna didn't exactly understand what all the festivities were about. She thought her bucket was for playing in the dirt, and when we were trick or treating she got a little upset when people tried to put candy in her bucket. She just wanted one piece candy in her hand, to carry her bucket like a purse, and then to be left alone. She did attempt to go into every house we went to, and several times had to be carried out. And she seemed much more interested in finding the dogs then participating in the candy haul! But she did have fun. The cutest part of her whole costume was watching from behind while she ran - she has the cutest little waddle, and with her arms hitched up her little wings flopped like she was about to take flight!

Saturday we had some neighbors ask for the kids to come trick-or-treating to their house since we didn't make it on Halloween, so the kids happily dressed up again and came home with more goodies!

Weston has been very excited about our pumpkins and has wanted to make pumpkin pie from the actual pumpkins so for a Halloween activity we made pumpkin pie (thank you Liby's, I wasn't ready to bake a pumpkin yet) for our party, but we didn't end up eating it because of all the other treats. But Weston had fun making pie which was all that mattered, and Elayna had a lot of fun playing in the flour - good thing flour cleans up fairly easily!

First of all, love the new blog template. Did you do the picture of the feet at the top? Secondly, the way you describe Elayna's actions on Halloween is just so funny--how she just wanted one piece of candy in her hand and then wanted to carry her bucket like a purse. That is hilarious.

Your kids are so cute! Ben and I were just talking last night about how we miss you guys and should try to keep in touch more. I love the Halloween costumes! Aiden especially liked the astronaut. Hope you guys are doing well!
