I have to Brag
Not that I think I'm all that wonderful, but I did finally get the bedding done for Elayna's bed. And that is quite the accomplishment for several reasons!
We were given a day bed (while I was still pregnant). It was cream with gold and fairly dated, so we (meaning me) spray painted it and decided we would use it for Elayna when she was older and as a guest bed until then (it had a trundle making it even more appealing). We were then blessed enough to also be given mattresses for the two beds.We didn't have any cute bedding, girly or otherwise. So, being pregnant I started to get some nesting ideas and thought it would be fun to make bedding for it! Ya!!!!! If you know my skill level with the sewing machine and my commitment to finishing large projects and the fact that my sewing machine is limping on a severed leg, and that my crafty gene is not complete - then you would understand that this was not the most sane idea.
I found some fabric on sale and bought all that was left. I think I had 8 yards of the teal fabric. And over the next 2 years I was able to find the other two fabrics at different stores, also on clearance and only small quantities available.
Well I finally started it, and did a simple pattern - hoping to stretch the fabric as much as I could - and got it done. And with some fabric left, after I had tried so hard to make sure I would have enough, I felt challenged to use all the fabric. So I decided to see how many pillows I could make using the remnants. I had a Euro pillow so I started with a sham for that and just kept going! I really have no fabric left. I had to sew scraps together to get large enough pieces to use - and I even used old batting I had to make the form for the neck roll!!! John laughed at me for making so many pillows - but it was a fun challenge!!!
My sewing machine was not going to make it with quilting it since I had already broken 3 needles... so Sandy thankfully was willing to help. So now it is finished and on Elayna's bed. She seems to be a little giddy with all the girliness and pillow fruffiness... so that is fun! Hopefully it will work for a while. I guess we'll need to get a dust ruffle to finish it off, but I'm done sewing for a while. Hopefully we'll find a good one on sale. And it is definitely cuter in person... the picts just don't do justice to the fluffy strips and cute fabrics... but I had to share. I'm just so stinkin proud of myself!!
Maybe you can come visit and use her bed, since Elayna wont be using it for a while yet.
Very cute!! I love it. Congrats.
