Catching Up

Well,
It's been a while since I last posted a blog. And most of that is due to the fact that our lives have become extrememly busy with church business and also due to the fact that the down time we did have was forced - we all caught a nasty little sick bug and were sick for the majority of the last month. Everyone but John got sick, and I got it the worst. I was sick for a total of about 2 1/2 weeks straight, and though I haven't been sick for the last week - I'm still not 100% recovered. We keep hoping though!

Weston is doing great. He loves school and continues to impress his teachers with his aptitude and retention with his anatomy and physiology classes. As he gets older and more aware of the world around him, he is getting more sweet and kind, which is a welcome surprise. While I was sick, he was constantly opening my doors and getting blankets for me. Each time he would say "mommy I'm doing this because you are so sick".

Other comments:
Weston was fairly sick too and had fallen asleep on the couch that afternoon. Before John and I went to bed we tried to get him changed into pajamas and get him to the bathroom. John asked him if he wanted to go sleep in his bed after getting changed.
-Weston: "No I don't want to sleep in my bed, and do you know why? Because I am having too much fun on the couch"
ya - at 103.3 degrees (as a low) and having been dead asleep since 4:30 that afternoon - I'd be having too much fun too! The best part is that he was so perky and clinical about it all - the kid was delirious!

We were at some friends home for FHE this last week. And as we brought out the desserts, John reminded me he didn't want any. (John has been doing great at not having any sweets/desserts for the last few weeks and has lost almost 10lbs so far.) Our host asked John why he was choosing to not eat sweets. Before John could answer, Weston in his very clinical, matter of fact tone answered : "Because he's fat". And then went right on eating his dessert.
Oddly though, my kids are not into sweets really, and instead of eating their little cheesecakes.. all three of them just kept adding blueberries to the top and eating the blueberries leaving all the good sweet parts for the garbage.

Tyler is spaz. He is at a hard stage, for me at least. Not sure if he wants the benefits of being a baby but always sure that he wants to be a "big boy" and rule the roost. But we went through this with Weston and being a 2nd boy may be adding some to our frustrations. But Tyler can also be so sweet and adorable, it's hard to stay frustrated with him for long. I never have my camera when I want it, to catch all of his expressions. He has the uncanny ability to show every emotion very clearly on his face.. including shagrin, smugness, imishness and calculating expressions. The kid just makes us laugh. His big brown eyes are just so breathtaking sometimes!!!!

Tyler is also doing well with school. And off course, as any parent would, we love to get reports of how smart, perceptive and able he is.

Tyler and weston both are still in love with legos, hotwheels and playing rough. But Tyler has a softer side and often wants to paint, and dance. I love to watch him dance! And he is starting to truly deserve the shirt he wears with the line "I do all my own stunts".

Laynie.. Wow she is growing up so fast. She can be as rough as the boys and it seems that her favorite thing to do is be outside and in the dirt. We've been given a bunch of dresses from a friend so Elayna is usually in a dress but doesn't seem to understand that dirt and rocks and mud don't usually look as cute on dresses as they do on jeans! Oh well!

She still talks all the time -mostly her own little jibberish. But is starting to form actual words. Her first 'real' words, words that others understand are 'Thank you' and 'No Thank you'. I guess you can't complain too much with those, she may not say much that's real english - but what she does say is very polite!
