They're growing up!
Weston, Tyler and Elayna are just getting big. To me, Elayna seems older at 18 mo. than the boys were - but she has the two of them to pull her along a little faster I guess. Weston and Tyler though seem to be hitting the stage where everything they do is new and amazing. I continually get reports from their teachers of how wonderful and amazing those two are - full of love and life and energy!
Sunday, Tyler's primary teacher passed along a few choice stories, including Tyler kissing his friend on the lips during class - multiple times so she had to physically separate them. Another where Tyler was being rather vocal and defiant during sharing time about how "Daniel is to my brother" (When Daniel and his actual brother were asked to stand up and explain about being brothers - Tyler felt left out that he too wasn't invited up) To his benefit we do spend enough time with their family that it feels like they should be brothers.
His teacher just smiled and said "Your two boys (she was Weston's teacher last year) are always original - in every way" She smiled and went on about other stories she still is laughing about with the two of them!
Today I got the report from Weston's teacher at his Kindergarten enrichment program how he was the only student who seems to remember all the hard and difficult words and definitions to parts of the body.. like the little finger like things in the small intestines that move the food along and suck up the vitamins - ya. I still don't remember what it is or how to pronounce it! Weston does though - and seems to be quite the doctor in the making. Every M/W/F he has anatomy and physiology in this class, and literally is soaking up everything he hears - because we hear it that night at dinner and the next night! (We started sending him to this class after we found that his regular kindergarten class was falling far short of all of our expectations and I don't regret it for a minute).
But back to my original reason for posting! We were going to make salad to go with dinner last night and the boys got very excited about shelling some hard boiled eggs... then Weston just started cutting everything up "Because he was big enough and careful enough" to not get hurt! Tyler was amazed at his most amazing big brother who can do everything that is so awesome!... and then he wanted his turn too!
So for dinner we had a very chopped salad and a bowl of very bizarely chopped apples!
yes they both still have all their fingers - no bandaids needed at all!! (Hey - what else am I supposed to take a picture of when it's Sunday and we're supposed to be getting dinner ready and the kids have taken over the kitchen!)
I do love to watch my kids though. They are growing up and becoming more independent (if that's possible) and are just so excited about life. I am truly loving this part of my life, crazy as it is, and sincerely loving my children for who they are and are becoming!
-------
Tyler: "Hey Mom - my egg is saying 'cheese'!"
- yes I realize that Weston looks like he is going to cut into his hand.Me: 'Weston put the knife down
Weston: "No Mom, really I'm really good I don't even need to practice. I know how to cut and I wont hurt myself"
Weston looking all serious and very 'cooking show host like'. And cutting my eggs into dice!Tyler getting his turn with the knife!!! cutting all the apples into the smallest chunks possible - before I was too hungry to wait any long and I just made them dump the rest of the apples in the bowl!
One apple is never enough - to practice on even if you had a tomato before that!
I had to add this one - check out Weston's artistic mid-air cutting technique!!! ya, we have some work ahead of us. Mostly just keeping the knives out of their hands for a couple more years still!
notice the glue - Tyler's new best friend! Today he wanted to glue an ice cube together that had broken while coming out of the tray!
