Bike Update
For Tanya - and any others who may have wondered. I did drop the ball a little with reporting on Weston and his bike. . . . So here is the scoop!
Weston got a new bike, so that Tyler could have his old bike. We got it on a tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon Weston decided that he no longer wanted training wheels. John was a little hesitant considering he only had about 30 minutes before he had to leave that next night and he didn't want to leave Weston without a bike until John again could work with Weston on riding with no training wheels the next day.
But Weston persisted and John agreed to help, and after a handful of runs up and down the sidewalk and a grand total of 10 minutes Weston was riding without training wheels and loving it. He soon started to swerve and wiggle and eventually ran into a wall and ricocheted off - tearing his bike seat and breaking off the reflector (of a day old bike). John was a little sad (about the bike), and Weston was very sad. I thought he was hurt, John was worried he wouldn't want to ride anymore, but Weston was only upset because his reflector was broken off.
John explained that everyone falls of their bikes - even when they know how to ride them, and admitted that even John looses his balance sometimes - Weston was no longer sad and immediately got back on his bike, telling me that even daddy falls off sometimes! It took him a day or two and lowering the bike seat for him to be able to start and stop without hesitation - but after that 3 day period start to finish, he has never looked back and adores his bike. He has to clean it about every other day and is very particular about how it is cared for and used.
As a result of that - Tyler desperately wants his training wheels off (which we may try in a few weeks???) and Tyler's trycicle that wasn't needed by him has now been claimed by Elayna who will not be left out of the outside adventures!!!!
All three of them 'love' their bikes and it's great to have them be so happy and willing to spend so much time outside!
"even daddy falls off sometimes".. that is so cute.
