4th of July!

Our 4th was fairly uneventful, considering I was off a day and didn't have anything planned or even any festive food (according to John we had no food) But thank goodness for Walmart - our 4th of July was still the 'best day ever' according to our kids. And they both wanted to have another 4th of July the next day. They were a little sad when we explained that the 4th of July only happens once a year!

We had fun though, simple BBQ with chips and juice (total winner - the chips and juice), then small fireworks (done in the full light of day at 8:30 at night). And a birthday cake for our nation - complete with sparklers - and individual sized cakes with lots of sprinkles!





















































































And let's not forget the traditional new pillow cases for the 4th. - this year made specifically to match the bedding that Grandma Sandy made.. The kids were in heaven. And they can hardly wait until next years celebration, and hopefully by then Layna will have a pillow so that she too can participate in the pillow case ritual!
