4 year olds

For journaling and pure entertainment here are a few conversations I've had with Weston lately! :)

(Driving back from dropping Tyler off at pre-school, running errands and listening to music in the car)

Weston: what song is that
me: let me check..... A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes... from the movie Pinnochio (obviously I don't know my Disney)

Weston: Why?
Me: I don't know it just is
Weston: It sounds like Cinderella
me: Well it's from Pinocchio
Weston: Why does it sound like Cinderella
me: maybe it's just the same person singing the song

Weston: no, it's Cinderella
me: no it's not, it's Pinocchio
weston: Why
me: (feeling frustrated) I don't know weston, it just is.

- listening to the song and starting to recognize the melody and then realizing - yes it is from Cinderella.

me: oh weston, mommy was wrong this is from Cinderella.
weston: pause..... I knew I was right. I'm always right. (very proud of himself)!

-----
me: Weston please pick up the cars and get them all back in the bucket before you come down.
weston: but I don't want to pick them up
me: you need to, pick them up unless you want them to go in time-out
weston: but mom
me: tyler you help to since you both played with them
Weston: I don't want to pick them up
me: Weston you played with them so you need to pick them up
weston: How did you know that? (complete wonder!!!)

-----

me: weston go flush the toilet
weston: why?
me: you just went to the bathroom
weston: (complete wonder) How did you know that?

-----

me: Weston come downstairs and eat please........Weston you need to come down stairs....come on weston
weston: (finally coming downstairs) How did you know I was upstairs???

-------------------

mommy: Weston you need to pick up your room and make sure you take everything out from under your bed.
weston: there isn't anything under my bed
me: well you have your clothes under Tyler's bed, make sure you look under both beds.
weston: (in complete wonder) 'How did you know that?'
me: I'm the mommy and I know - everything -!!!!!

7 months

Well, we've made it yet another month and to all of our credit nothing catastrophic has happened, yet. And though I don't anticipate anything really bad happening I see the love from her brothers turning from careful she's a baby to 'hey, that's my little sister - get her'. According to them, she is laughing so it must be okay!

(Here are a few picts that I've played with in photoshop,- just for fun - don't judge to harshly I'm still just experimenting and learning.)

Elayna is 7 months old as of the 12th, and I was just thinking today how she is still younger than the length of the pregnancy but she doesn't seem to be a baby anymore. At least not the infant she once was. She still refuses to roll over or spend any time at all on her stomach, but adult hands are an open invitation to walking around the room over and over and over. She babbles and talks gibberish all the time, and I'm starting to think her favorite thing to do is stick her tongue out and spit at people!

In our walking around times she always makes a loop past the stairs and half the time she will just stand there looking up the stairs with a strange look in her eyes. The other half she starts pulling my hands towards the stairs and gets all jumpy, making it very obvious she wants to go up.

Sitting is... so last month for her. She would rather walk but when I can't accommodate her she will sit and start pedaling her feet and flapping her arms. Very futile on her part, but funny to the rest of us. She still uses her walker and usually is okay with it (still would rather walk with fingers) and has found that pulling books off the shelves and opening drawers and pulling things out is so much more fun that just playing with the toys on her tray. I think that spells trouble for when she is really mobile on her own!

Elayna is wonderful. She has definitely added to our family fun and chaos, and although she can scream already (like all other little girls I have observed) we love her and her happy moments heavily outweigh the angry ones! I look forward to watching the dynamic continue to change as she gets older and more active.

Already I have heard from the boys..... No Laynie I'm not playing.. No laynie just leave me alone (as she is in her walker and ramming into her brothers or following them wherever they go!). Baby no, that isn't your's it's my turn. Baby no - you can't eat that.

But I have also heard ..... Mommy I need to give baby loves. Mommy the baby needs me, can you help her sit on my lap so I can hold her. Mommy I want to take care of baby today.

I am so glad that she has two wonderful older brothers who, without question adore their little sister.

- she can still do it - even with all those rolls - apparently she is more muscle than fat! I wish I were! :)
